Technology as the catalyst
Technology plays an essential role in supporting the growth of MTR’s transit network—from passenger trains, signalling, power distribution, platform screen doors to automatic and integrated fare collection systems—ensuring operational efficiency and passenger comfort. Regularly enhancing the existing system infrastructure is necessary to meet MTR’s evolving needs and cater to its clientele effectively.
The project scope includes managing the entire lifecycle of operational assets, focusing on effective asset management and control, improving asset utilization and systems integration to establish a more effective end-to-end operation.
Additionally, instrumented assets interconnected through IoT for real-time monitoring can be transformed into actionable intelligence using analytics, optimization, and AI. By analysing data across the entire asset lifecycle, MTR decision-makers will have access to a rich graphical interface for seamless operation and control of the system. End users will benefit from a dashboard providing access to various application links within the operating system, enabling a streamlined and user-friendly experience.
End to end capability
Next Generation Enterprise Asset Management System is container-based running IBM Red Hat OpenShift with the underlying architecture scalable to take advantage of AI-ready functionalities.
MTR launched the new integrated EAMS (based on MAS) for the South Island Line a few months ago. Today, the EAMS has registered over 800,000 railway assets and 20,000 asset locations across the MTR network, enabling data integration with over 20 satellite systems and elevating work coordination. It also empowers robust data analysis and health checks to enhance efficiency and set new standards for smart asset management and maintenance across the network.
